Aged between 12 and 16 months in French oak barrels, “Le Château” is a fine Médoc red that is both intense and bright. When young, the Loudenne Médoc has a deep crimson color, a strong, complex nose with notes of dark fruits (cherries, blackberries, blackcurrants), toast, and more delicate notes of vanilla. Some vintages also have elegant, fresh notes of mint. The wine is dense, concentrated, and fruity on the palate with a pleasant tannic structure, a full body, and a long finish. It is a wine that has both an excellent aging potential and tannins that are pleasant enough to be enjoyed while it is still young. As it ages, the fruity aromas disappear and are gradually replaced by the sophisticated aromas of sous bois. The wine becomes more complex and its tannins more velvety.
